TREC’s Green Collar Careers (GCC) program is a new initiative that addresses the labour needs of the emerging green energy industry by preparing today’s youth for tomorrow’s jobs.

The GCC website is a comprehensive portal of information about Ontario’s green economy and the job opportunities within it. It allows students (as well as teachers and parents) a window into the fastest growing job sector in Canada.

A green career addresses the concerns of job security and a decent wage while helping to address a range of environmental issues like global warming, biodiversity loss, poor air quality, etc.

What exactly is a green job?

Check out over 40 detailed job profiles that include a job snapshot, roles and responsibilities, and related fields of work. The website also offers:

·      Information on job and internship opportunities
·      Career planning tips and tools
·      Links to post-secondary courses and options
·      Lesson plans and workshops for educators
·      Environmental awareness posters designed by and aimed at youth
·      A Green Collar Career informational video

Green Collar Careers. Its Our future.

TREC also offers workshops and presentations about Ontario’s Green Economy and Green Collar Careers for teachers, students and other audiences.
